These particular decisions made by Petters group (who own Polaroid) are lacking respect to the traditional philosophies and truly unique products developed by Edwin Land’s original vision, not to mention showing a disregard of all the people worldwide that still own and would like to continue using Polaroid cameras. Polaroid film and cameras are a truly unique alternative to digital photography and it is very sad that the production of these products is to cease.I would like to stress that some of the photographic results that can be seen on Polaroid cannot be reproduced by any other camera-film combinations, they are truly unique to Polaroid cameras and film. It would be a real shame to see these art forms disappear completely from the world.
The Save Polaroid has links to petitions and groups where you can voice your thoughts on the end of and era (although I’m hoping it may not be that bad, perhaps ‘people power’ can change this situation)
Thanks for bringing this matter up (I’m glad you like my Polaroid OneStep camera so much that you want to use it for this post) - my site is The Plastic Lens if anyone is interested seeing more examples of Polaroid and Toy Camera photography.
